Gennady Bessonov was born in 1954. In sport he is since 1970, being the pupil of 9-th class.
Afterwards was Shakhty's technology institute of consumer service.
Since 1970 (the coach V. K. Dorokhin tells), he is very severe and with a complete response was busy in weightlifting, was the executive student. During of the sport career, Gennady never was late and never has passed of any training. To get to palace of sport it was necessary go with two changes, from Sidorovka to Socgorodok (as I remember a transport those years, spaces and traveling speed... - in my dream I start shake).
Personally, I like more in him is his modesty. I remember, in 1975, one future first secretary VLKSM, and in a consequence secretary of city committee told choking: “Imagine? We also did not know that he is in a weightlifting and woo for Alla! As one guy told joke to Alla' address, and Besson approaches and, is quiet so, collar him (style of a speech is saved) and separates from ground. V.K. Dorokhin tells, that many in institute did not know about Gennady Bessonov sports career. He did not advance for show itself and successes, in too time, studied so, that there was no necessity to cover him and to intercede before the teachers and guiding of institute. And the graph of training and competing was rigid.
For short periods, he has fulfilled the specifications of master of sport of an international class, of the master of sport, and in 7 years of obstinate training becomes the champion of the world and Europe.
1981 has made 3 world records.
1983 has left sports career.
After quit from big sport he has finished Academy at the ministry of internal matters and worked in militia.
Nowadays, Gennady Veaniaminovich Bessonov is - colonel of militia, chief of a department of internal matters of October (village) district of the Rostov region. He is respectable man and authoritative official.
2000 year the administration of city to him appropriated a rank "Honorable citizen of Shakhty city".
With the wife, Alla Victorovna, they nurture two sons: Andrew and Eugene. Eugene has gone in the steps of the father - 15 years old, he has fulfilled the specification of 1-th sports discharge.
Gennady Bessonov sometimes visits weightlifting training, regularly is present on competitions.
The 2-fold champion of the world (1977, 1979), champion of Europe (1977), 2-fold winner Spartakiada of the peoples of Russia (1975, 1979), 5-fold winner of Cup of Baltic, winner of intercontinental Cup Pannonia, winner of Cup "Friendship", winner of international tournament "Blue swords", champion of Japan (1977).
The coach - V.K. Dorokhin deserved trainer of the USSR.
