Vasili was born in 1918 in village Azovo, Falenski' disrict of the Kirov region (then not the Kirov region, but Tver region). After leaving school, he worked in collective farm.

1939 is called for the Soviet Army, as frontier guard.

Serving on protection of Far East boundaries, the best battle of preparation Vasili Zaiakin more than once detained the infringers of border.

The war has burst. Shooting brigade, to which was directed V. Zaiakin, is thrown under Moscow. Severe fights under Moscow, then on the Orel direction, where Zaiakin shows bravery and courage, skill to supervise over the people. The courageous actions of warrior are marked by an order of a Red Banner. For a duel with an enemy in hand-to-hand fight in Pinsk' bogs, Zaiakin is marked by an award of Glory of 3-rd degree.

In the autumn of 1944 V. Zaiakin in structure of shooting company forced the river Narev. In fight there was killed a company commander. Control has undertaken Vasili Zaiakin. Company under his leading has ensured successful approach of our Army.

For shown the courage and bravery March 24, 1944 to him was appropriated a rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

Immobilized in 1946 and until 1959 lived in Gremiachinsk city of the Perm region and worked on mine #71.

1959 V. Zaiakin has moved to Shakhty city and till 1968 worked on mine "Neghdannaia"
