Vasiuta Sergey was born in 1922, in city Gordievka Lipovetski' district of Vinnitsa region. In early age together with the parents has moved to Shakhty city. He studied in high school #6 (1930-1937). After leaving school studied in mining school at mine "Proletarian dictatorship", then worked on mine "Neghdannaia" mechanic of an electric locomotive. In 1940 he was called for the Soviet Army, served in tank regiment.

Battle way of S.T. Vasiuta began in 1942 at coast of Volga. The participant of Stalingrad fight, he released also our Rostov region. The first award - medal "For Courage" Sergey Vasiuta has received for fights at Verkhne-Kumsk on December, 1942.

In fights became stronger S. Vasiuta' military skill. He was awarded with an order of a Red Star, is nominated by the commander of the tank of 9-th Guards mechanized brigade.

On September 8, 1943 Vasiuta is received the task to reconnoiter a defense of the opponent in region Gadiach of the Poltava region. Carrying out the mission, guards the sergeant Sergey Vasiuta, on the tank has rushed into an arrangement enemy infantry. The courageous crew destroyed the soldiers, tractors, guns, "ironed" enemy trenches, sowed a panic among the fascist soldiers. But suddenly machine was shaken, the tank stands on a place with broken off track, the petrol tank has blown up. The fascists came nearer to the burning tank.

The crew courageously battled and was lost.

On June 3, 1944 to Vasiuta Sergey appropriated a rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

His name called one of streets of our city.
