His breast was decorated with 4 orders of a Red banner, order of Domestic war of 1-st degree, and June 22, 1944, for a defense of Leningrad, him appropriated a rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

In August 1944 Shapckin Nikolai have luck to visit in native city, on a vacation. Then there was again war. He beat an enemy in territory of Poland, Germany.

But, the hero could not live up to a victory. March 5, 1945 Shapckin Nikolai has not returned from the mission. His plane has fallen in the sea near Gdin'.
