He was born in 1916 in city Astrakhan. When he was 25 years old, the family has moved in Stalingrad (nowadays of Volgograd). Andrei worked on quay, stoker assistant. Then, having finished a trade school began to work on base "Rostovsbit". 1933 has acted in air club.

Having finished it in 1937, he becomes the cadet of Stalingrad's flying school. The war has found Andrei Kirillovich in military camps. The cadets of school have been directed on front to army.

Popov Andrei battled in bomber's aircraft of 8-th air army. With this army he has passed the famous battle way before termination war. Popov Andrei begin to war by planes - night bombers. Took part in fights under Moscow, on a Kursk arch. At performance of the battle missions has shown courage and bravery.

Being the commander, he rescued 4 times the crew, having uncommon endurance, he has landed by the burning machine. In air fights, his crew has brought down 9 planes of an enemy.

For the courage, shown in fights, and bravery, March 13, 1944 the rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union was appropriate to Popov Andrei.

During the period of Patriotic war Popov has made 285 flight missions in rear of an enemy and has dropped on military objects and live force of the fascists of hundred tons death cargo.

After war, until 1958 A.K. Popov continued a service in MAF. In 1958 was immobilized and has arrived to Shakhty city, where until 1970 lived.

Since 1970 to 1976 lived in city Volgograd. In 1976 tragically was lost in automobile accident.
