He was born in 1916 in farmstead Golubinka Belokalitvenskaia district of the Rostov region. In early childhood together with the parents has gone in Shakhty.

He studied in high schools #4 and #13.

After ending seven-year school has arrived in Shakhty's mining technical school, which has ended in 1936. After ending a technical school he worked on mine "Petrovski". 1937 was called for the Soviet army in aircraft.

M. Orlov has reached Berlin, was at war in territory of the European countries. Is awarded with 3 orders by Lenin, orders of a Red Banner and Red Star, medals.

On May 15, 1946 he was awarded rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

10 years after war, M. Orlov has served in aircraft. Mikhail Yakovlevich has died on May 15, 1968 in Cherovtsi city.
