He was born on August 16, 1917 in farmstead Sidirovo-Kadamovski of the Rostov region. He has ended 8 classes at school of mine "Artem".

In 1936 has finished city factory school on mine by "Artem".

Upon termination of a school has remained to work on mine "Artem" as electro mechanic on repair of the equipment and simultaneously studied in Shakhty's air club.

In 1937 he was directed in Voroshilovgrad's military school of the pilots and then in 1938 in Chelyabinsk flying school on pilots training.

First year of war the commander of a group Kolesnickov has risen on protection of Moscow. For a defense of capital, Aleksandr Nikiforovich has received the first award of a Red Banner. In 1942 for eliminating infantry and engineering of the enemy under Stalingrad he awarded by the second award of a Red Banner. In fights on a southern direction of Rostov-Shakhty Колесников with honor has executed the very important mission on rout of fascist armies. For it, he awarded with an order Aleksandr Nevski. Bravely has battled Kolesnickov in fights for Sevastopol and Sapun-mountain.

For shown bravery and courage, A.N. Kolesnickov on August 2, 1944 appropriated a rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

In fights for a native Land Kolesnickov A.N. has made 188 battle flights, has destroyed 12 planes of the enemy, 32 tanks, about 150 motor vehicles, 12 artillery and 9 mine-shoots of batteries.

After war, until 1958 he served in army. In 1958 he was dismiss and lived in Riga.
