On August 24, 1924 in Glushkov' family, in Shakhty city, the boy was born. He have been named Victor.
It is difficult to say, the parents whether knew or not, that "Victor" in Latin - winner. But with the complete right it is possible to say, that in a choice of a name to son, they were not mistaken.
Later, Victor Glushkov really became the winner in science, his name is widely known in our country (to specialists) and far behind its limits (also - to specialists).
Children's years, Victor explicated not by years... To three-year old he is error-free knew the table of multiplication (Hear me God! Also, educate growing up generation...). To a start of classes at school - freely read, solved mathematical problems, and knew many verses. He at once became the pupil of the third class.
He was simple is possessed by mathematics! In sixth class he already was engaged in differential and integrated evaluations (school nickname - "algebraist"). The tenth class of high school #1 Victor has completed with a gold medal, and up to city rolled thunder of Miuss-front. The acute myopia has not allowed him go to front. He worked in chemical lab of "Shakhtanthracite". At 1942 he has left for Moscow, where worked in chemical lab of a car factory "ZiL".
February, 1943 he has returned to native city. Here the terrible message waited for him: V.D. Glushkova - his mum, has perished during occupation of city by the German armies. She was down faulted in pit of mine "Krasin".
Day Victor worked on restoring of mine "Frunze", and night he was engaged in topological and abstract algebra. He has taken a great interest with the theory of computers.
As soon as begun to work Novocherkassk' polytechnic institute, Victor becomes its student. In institute, he appeared with the public lectures on a subject "Theory of computers", participated in work of scientific council. On last course of NPI he has arrived in the Rostov' university.
Twenty-three years old Victor simultaneously has received two diplomas with honor then directed to the Ural polytechnic institute.
When the student's years have remained behind, Victor Glushkov completely immersed in scientific job. In Moscow, under guiding O. Shmidt, V. Glushkov defends a thesis and gains a scientific degree of the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences.
Same time at the Kiev' university the lab of cybernetics and sub-faculty were framed. It has headed Victor Glushkov.
Soon Victor Glushkov becomes the academician. 1962 his lab was converted to institute of cybernetics. One year later, Victor Glushkov was enlisted in the real members of an Academy of sciences of the USSR.
He wrote more than 750 proceedings, many of which have no analogs in the world. He has brought huge in a motion to development of the theoretical concepts of a machine' intellect. Under his guiding the serial of the electronic - computer was constructed: "Kiev", "MIR", "Dnepr", and systems "Lvov", "Kuntsevo" etc.
In six countries, the honorable academician elected V.M. Glushkov. He has framed and headed a magazine "Cybernetics".
In 1978 to V.M. Glushkov the rank "Honorable citizen of Shakhty city" was assigned.
On some sites, in a web, the place of his birth - is show city of birth - Rostov-on-Don. It is not right. He was born in our city - Shakhty, and we have the right to be proud of it.
Victor Michailovich Glushkov does not live with us any more. He has died on January 30, 1982 in Kiev city.
