In the beginning 1980 and in 1983 y. braking development in economic, cultural and other aspects of city life was (as however was, and in all country, if remember. - rem. SAM).
Updating manufacture at Cotton combine, sewing factory and in shoe association was delayed. The recession of manufacture began which was reflected in economic parameters of city.
The measures on reorganization were accepted, and by 1985 volume of industrial manufacture has grown (thus, probably, is not necessary to forget - the urgent work, volumes of infringements in sphere of manufacture, infringement of the requirements to safety of work - back of such successes. - rem. SAM).

In 1985 45 industrial and 24 building enterprises worked in city.
On April 4, 1985 on Cotton enterprise produced milliard meter of a fabric from the date of start-up of the enterprise.
The population of city to this time has reached 252,7 thousand men.
Some growth of scales of manufacture was in sphere of a light industry of city. Almost on 7 millions rubles has increased annual output shoe association. Within 15 years, it has made over 150 millions pairs footwear (until now, I remember this production...).
Orientation on intensity of manufacture has resulted in reduction of quantity clearing stopes in association "Rostovugol" with 70 up to 46 and increase of daily average loading on stope with 417 up to 519 tons.
"Rostovugol" has shipped to the country more than 7 millions tons super scheduled of coal during the period of three last five-years plans, from them about 4 millions tons on Shakhty' coal district.
Powerful base of building industry was created to that moment in city: two factories (one of them is already disorganized and is plundered) and combine of building materials, the factory of Ferro-concrete products (actually has stopped the existence), of metal equipment (nowadays from it there were one walls, all few - small valuable is plundered), brick, rubble, building porcelain.
May 7, 1985 in city center was solemnly open monument of a Victory. It was constructed on means earned by the city dwellers on subbotniks (working day in Saturday).
Total in city 19 memorials, monuments of military glory, 24 memorial boards marking military feats of the city dwellers - shakhtiniens installed.
By the end eleventh five-years in city was 24 Palaces of culture and club, 6 musical schools two art schools, musical school, 109 libraries, drama theatre, five movie theatres, 33 film-installations, branch of art fund.
The national education of city was submitted - 40 high schools, 86 preschool and 10 out-schools, about 20 thousand pupils.
There are eight trade-technical and two trade-culinary schools in city. There are five special educational institutions - mining and power technical colleges (nowadays are united), medical, musical, pedagogical schools two high schools. Shakhty' the branch NPI for 25 years has let out about 7 thousand engineers. The quota of the students has grown with 300 up to 4,3 thousand.
In this time period were put into operation children' polyclinic in Artem area, maternity branch on 120 places in city hospital, the new building of station of first aid is constructed, there was in a stage of reconstruction a building under station of transfusion of blood.
The material base of the enterprises of trade and public catering became stronger. In city the new shops - "Anniversary" (in a former kind does not exist), "Ukraine" (in a former kind does not exist), "Russia" (in a former kind does not exist), "East" (is reconstructed, reorganized), the cafe - "Friendship" (there was prepared with amazing cakes. In a former kind does not exist.), "Rainbow" (in a former kind does not exist - is reconstructed), "Meeting" (there were first in city of a disco. The long time was a desert. Now there something is reconstructed), "Ugolek" (departmental cafe "Rostovugol". There is in a former kind), "Integral" (now there smart and expensive restaurant).
Firm shop "The Russian textiles" is constructed and first functions in city (traded in production Cotton enterprise).
The services render two household combines on 800 places, factory of individual manufacturing of clothes, footwear, 75 studio, points of reception and workshops, factory on repair of complex home appliances. In all these structures more than three thousand the man work, they appear about 800 kinds of services (now all are private. The staff is reduced).
The interesting fact is that on the end by eleventh five-years, that is to middle 1980 years, the total sum of the contributions in savings banks of city has exceeded of 200 millions rubles (to check up these data is inconveniently).
Our people did not sleep on sports arenas: with 1975 for 1985 the sportsmen of Shakhty city have established 122 world records. V. Alekseev, D. Righert, G. Bessonov, M. Dobrancheva 19 times there were by the winners of world championships, 23 times - championships of Europe. In 1972 in Munich and in 1976 in Montreal, Vasili Alekseev became the winner of Olympic Games. A gold medal of Olympiad in 1976 has received David Righert.
